One-To-One Journeys

All the knowledge and tools you need for the positive birth and postpartum you deserve, delivered personally with time to explore your own questions or concerns.

Your Pregnancy, Your Journey

Every pregnancy is different, and so is the support you need. That’s why I’ve created my one-to-one Birth Journeys, offering personalised pregnancy and birth support for expectant parents across Leeds and West Yorkshire.

Private antenatal sessions can be a wonderful alternative to group classes. They offer the flexibility to learn at your own pace, ask every question that’s on your mind and receive support that’s specific to your pregnancy, birth preferences and circumstances. They can be particularly beneficial for parents who are neurodivergent, have additional needs or a complex pregnancy, are expecting after previous birth trauma, or simply feel more comfortable learning in a private, one-to-one setting.

Mini Journeys

A 2hr standalone session with a qualified midwife – £105

The Mini Journey was developed because multiple people told me they just wanted more time with a midwife. Whilst I don’t provide clinical antenatal care, booking a Mini Journey gives you more time & space to speak and ask questions more freely, without the time constraints or fixed structure of regular NHS appointments.

A Mini Journey is ideal for those wanting a small amount of support, possibly those welcoming their second/subsequent (but also suitable for first-time parents), or as supplementation to a previously attended antenatal course (with me or someone else).

We can arrange a Mini Journey to take place at your home or a local cafe (brew & cake on me!)

Examples of how you may choose to use a Mini Journey:

  • Private version of an existing workshop (Active Birth/Caesarean Birth) – delivered at your home at a suitable time for you
  • Hypnobirthing refresher
  • Personalised birth or postnatal planning session
  • Space to discuss a previous difficult birth experience (please note: if you birthed at LGI or St James’ in Leeds, this service is offered for free on the NHS by the wonderful OPAL team in Leeds: you can email leedsth-tr.birthreflections@nhs.net to request a Birth Reflections appointment)
  • Discussion around your choices for planning birth after a previous C-section
  • Time to chat about a specific element of birth/postnatal period, eg induction of labour, fetal monitoring, breastfeeding
  • An additional session to a group antenatal class to discuss personal choices/concerns/complexities/etc
  • A mixture of some of the above, or something totally different – it’s totally up to you! If you feel you need or want more support after this session, we can arrange another or design a Custom Journey just for you.

Antenatal Journeys

My signature antenatal course taught privately to you, with time to answer questions or personal concerns. Both Antenatal Journeys include WhatsApp support within working hours (these vary each week and are not just Mon-Fri 9-5)

The Essential Journey

  • Covering labour physiology, birth biomechanics, hypnobirthing, pain relief options, decision-making in pregnancy & birth, medical intervention, induction of labour, assisted and C-section birth.

The Full Journey

5 sessions totalling 10 hours – £495

  • Covering everything in the Essential Antenatal Journey PLUS feeding & caring for your baby, understanding their needs & your own, creating a personalised postpartum plan & learning about recovery

C-Section Journeys

Traditional antenatal classes are not designed for those who know they are planning a C-section.

Understanding what happens on the day, and in those moments & days afterwards, learning some tips & tricks to stay calm and preparing for recovery can help you to have a really positive C-section experience. This journey is for those planning an elective C-section.

We also focus on how to get breastfeeding off to the best start following a C-section.

The C-Section Journey takes place over 2 sessions at your home and includes WhatsApp support within working hours (these vary each week and are not just Mon-Fri 9-5)

Following your baby’s arrival, we will arrange a postnatal appointment around 6-8 weeks, consisting of scar therapy, pelvic health check and massage as needed.

What you’ll learn:

  • What happens on the day
  • Early postnatal recovery tips & advice
  • Scar massage techniques
  • Caring for your pelvic floor
  • Breastfeeding after a C-section

Frequently Asked Questions about Birth Journeys

A lot of people are very skeptical or dismissive when they hear the word ‘hypnobirthing’ as the word itself gives the idea of a ‘hippie’ intervention that involves someone else controlling your mind. In fact, it is almost the total opposite of this and is well-researched. For example, Uldal et al., 2023 found that people who attended hypnobirthing classes gave people more confidence and trust in their own bodies, as well as a sense of control, resulting in more positive birth experiences for this group of participants, regardless of their mode of birth.

This is echoed by Yaqoob et al., 2024 who concluded that regularly practising hypnobirthing techniques during pregnancy resulted in less anxiety and fear during childbirth.

Birth Journeys antenatal course participants have said similar things; for example, Dani, a first-time Mum who attended my antenatal course gave birth to her son on the Lotus Suite at LGI in March 2025. She told me:

“Doing your classes and realising what a labour can be like completely changed my perspective and I don’t think I’d have had the same birth experience otherwise.”

You can book onto an antenatal course whenever is convenient for you, but please bear in mind that the initial deposit is non-refundable. I recommend booking so that you are between 24-32 weeks pregnant when the course starts. The information will be more relevant to you at this stage in your pregnancy, whilst also giving enough time to practice useful hypnobirthing and active birth techniques before the big day. Not to mention being in a course with those with similar due dates around you, vital for the postnatal support we all need.

If this is your first baby and you want a comprehensive course that covers everything you need to know to feel prepared and empowered for birth and beyond, my full antenatal course is the one for you. Including hypnobirthing and infant first aid and led by me, a current practising Leeds midwife, the course runs over a 6 week period and has an accompanying WhatsApp support group. Second and subsequent parents-to-be have found the course useful as well, particularly if they have had a previous negative experience of birth or have moved to Leeds from another area.

If you’ve already booked another antenatal course (perhaps online), and are looking for a little bit extra, or you’ve had a baby before and don’t need the postnatal info, you could consider an Active Birth Workshop .These offer something extra to traditional antenatal courses and provide useful tools to optimise baby’s position and encourage natural, spontaneous labour.

Another option is personalised 1:1 support in the comfort of your own home; please get in contact to discuss how this works but it could be as little as a 2hr one-off session to boost confidence and learn new skills, or as a refresher if you’ve had a baby before.

Still feeling a bit lost? Send me a message and we can work out what’s right for you.

Good support in labour has been shown to be protective against feelings of birth trauma (Birth Trauma Enquiry, 2024). I strongly recommend bringing the person who will be accompanying you during birth, so they have a deeper understanding of their role in the birthing process and can help advocate for you during your pregnancy and labour journey. This may not be your romantic partner – some people choose to bring their mum, or another relative or close friend.

Hypnobirthing can work for all types of birth and the techniques learned are especially useful for when birth takes unexpected or unplanned turns. The knowledge of the mind-body connection can help in other aspects of life too. You are welcome to book onto the full antenatal course if you are having a planned C-section, but you may find some of the sessions irrelevant. The beginning of the course is heavily focused on the physiology of labour, and whilst the 3rd session covers medical intervention and operative birth, it centres around remaining calm during unplanned modes of birth and decision-making, rather than the surgery itself. If you know you’re planning an elective C-section, get in contact to discuss 1:1 preparation options.
