Course Content
My comprehensive 5-week antenatal course has been designed by myself with help from specialists in particular fields, such as infant feeding and mental health. It includes weekly 1.5hr sessions and a postnatal reunion when the last baby arrives Earth-side as well as the opportunity to join a WhatsApp group to stay in touch with those you meet.

Intro to the science behind birth
Our first session begins with introductions to the group, then covers decision-making in pregnancy, place of birth, spontaneous labour, stages of labour, hormones, optimising physiology and the importance of birth environment.

Active birth & coping mechanisms
This is a fun, interactive session covering active birth, birth positions, partner support, rebozo techniques for late pregnancy & labour, pain relief: non-pharmacological methods including water & aromatherapy.

Intervention & assisted birth
We explore the rationale and evidence behind scans and intervention in pregnancy, including induction of labour, assisted and operative birth.
A Leeds obstetrician (pregnancy & labour Doctor) is on hand to answer any questions and alleviate your fears.

Feeding your baby
We explore feeding options for your baby: discussion around breast and formula feeding advice, expressing, troubleshooting common problems and further support.

Postnatal planning
In the final session, we cover caring for your newborn, postnatal support, recovering from birth, postnatal mental health, life changes with a baby, baby’s developing brain and what to expect and look forward to. At the end, we will make plans for our postnatal reunion.
